The Dunes
Interiors project for a beach apartment in Cornwall.
Located on Perranporth beach, The Dunes is a spacious three bedroom apartment with an open plan living space. Overlooking golden sands and far out to sea, this new build project presented me with a blank canvas.
My client liked the ideas of washed out pastel shades but wanted to ensure that the rooms each had a ‘pop’ of colour for individuality. The client loves the colours of the sunset, so firery reds and burnt oranges were included in the design scheme.
In the lounge, the client wanted me to create a luxurious coastal living space with colour, texture and lighting. The sideboard and media unit are from the Wave Collection by Conran and the Urchin table lamp is from Tom Raffield. The beautiful water-coloured lampshades are from Heals. The scheme is pulled together by the large dark blue, velvet corner sofa, which is from sofa.com. There is a stunning natural root glass top coffee table from Sustainable Furniture, which complements the room layout. Each piece to create this space is completely unique. The final pop of sunset colours came from the orange and red cushions and throws with a dash of lime thrown in for good measure.
All of the curtains and blinds are made from natural linen in pale blue and soft greys. My client liked the idea of built in wooden headboards with a top shelf so these were made for us by Rozen, as were the painted bed bases. The bed cushions and throws are from Scion.
The upholstered bed in the master bedroom is a gorgeous petrol blue linen and came from sofa.com. The master bedroom wardrobes were a challenge, as my client wanted a lockable owners cupboard. We opted for a bespoke fitted wardrobe from Sharps Bedrooms.
